What
We Do

At the Edo State Pension Bureau, we play a vital role in the lives of retirees by providing essential pension services and support. Our responsibilities include:

  • Enrolling new pensioners and maintaining accurate records of pension accounts.
  • Verifying the eligibility and authenticity of pension claims to prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Calculating pension benefits based on retirees’ length of service, salary history, and other relevant factors.
  • Disbursing pension payments to retirees through electronic transfer or other secure means.
  • Assisting retirees with pension-related inquiries, requests, and concerns, offering personalized assistance and guidance as needed.
  • Collaborating with government agencies, pension fund administrators, and other stakeholders to improve pension policies, practices, and systems for the benefit of retirees and future generations.

Our
Objectives

  • Ensure the timely and accurate payment of pension benefits to retirees, minimizing delays and discrepancies in pension
  • Safeguard pension funds and ensure their sustainable management, implementing sound financial practices and risk management strategies.
  • Provide accessible and responsive pension services to retirees, offering personalized assistance and guidance to address their individual needs and concerns.
  • Promote transparency, accountability, and good governance in pension administration, fostering public trust and confidence in the Edo State Pension Bureau.

Our
Functions

  • The Bureau renders every monthly return of the comprehensive list of pensionable staff, existing pensioners, deceased pensioners, and their next of kin to the National Pension Commission (PenCom).
  • The Bureau maintains a database of all pensioners and contributors under the contributory scheme.
  • The Bureau processes Deceased Employee's Entitlement under Insurance cover in the contributory pension scheme and also employees benefits under the Defined benefit scheme.
  • The Bureau receives and reviews complaints on the contributory scheme from the public to find solutions and pass them to the National Pension Commission, where necessary, for appropriate action.
